Most homeowners only think about their gutters after something goes wrong — a stain on the fascia, an overflow during a storm, water in the basement. A gutter inspection flips that around: it tells you what your system actually needs before a small issue becomes an expensive one. It is also the honest starting point for any other work, because we would rather show you the real condition of your gutters than sell you a fix you may not need.

What we actually check

A real inspection is more than a glance from the driveway. We get up to the system and work through it methodically: the pitch, confirming the gutters still slope toward the downspouts and that water is not pooling in the low spots; the hangers, checking they are tight, correctly spaced, and biting into solid wood; the seams, corners, and end caps, looking for cracked sealant and the early leaks that rot fascia; the downspouts, making sure they are clear, sized right, and discharging well away from the foundation; and the fascia and soffit behind the gutters, where water damage hides until it is severe.

You come away knowing exactly where your system stands — not a vague “they look okay,” but a specific picture of what is sound and what is not.

A written assessment you can act on

After the inspection we give you the findings in plain language and in writing: what is fine, what needs attention now, and what is optional or can wait. If repairs, a cleaning, guards, or a replacement genuinely make sense, we quote them transparently so you can weigh real numbers. And if your gutters are in good shape, we will say so and send you on your way — a clean bill of health is a perfectly good outcome.

This is the same diagnostic step that begins every repair, guard, and replacement we do, which is why an inspection is included free with any estimate.

When to schedule one

Once a year is a good baseline for most Indianapolis homes — fall after the leaves come down, or spring after a hard winter, are the natural times. If your home sits under heavy tree cover, or you have had gutter trouble before, a check each season is cheap insurance against the water damage that clogged or failing gutters cause. Catching a loose hanger or a cracked seam early is always less expensive than repairing the fascia, siding, or foundation that a neglected gutter eventually harms.

Not sure what shape your gutters are in? Schedule a free inspection and estimate and we will give you a clear, written read on your system — with no pressure to buy anything.

Gutter Inspection — common questions

What does a gutter inspection include?

We check the gutter pitch and whether water reaches the downspouts, the condition and spacing of hangers, the seams and corners for leaks, the downspouts and their discharge points, and the fascia and soffit behind the gutters. You get a plain-language written summary of what is fine, what needs attention, and what is optional.

How often should gutters be inspected?

At least once a year is sensible for most Indianapolis homes, ideally in fall after the leaves drop or in spring after winter. Homes under heavy tree cover or with a history of gutter trouble benefit from a check each season.

Do you charge for an inspection?

A gutter inspection is included free with any estimate. If you want a standalone documented inspection without a quote attached, just ask and we will let you know the details.

What happens after the inspection?

You get the findings in writing and decide what to do — there is no obligation. If repairs, cleaning, guards, or replacement make sense, we quote them transparently. If your gutters are in good shape, we will tell you that too.
